 Year 4 Information

Homework

Homework is given on a Monday and is expected back in school by Thursday.  Any children who have not returned their homework by Friday will be sent to homework club on Friday Lunchtime.

Spellings and Timestables

Spellings and Timestables to be learnt are also given on a Monday.  Timestables will be tested in class on a Thursday morning and spellings will be tested in class on a Friday Morning.

Reading

In addition we expect the children to read aloud at home at least three times a week and their progress charted in their reading records.  These are checked on a regular basis in school.  To encourage children to read at home we have set up a reading challenge.  All children who have read at home at least three times in the week will be rewarded with a raffle ticket.  At the end of half-term all tickets will be entered in to a prize draw.  So the more the children read, the better their chance of winning a prize.

Topics

Topics covered in class over the course of the year include Ancient Egypt, Tudor Times, Weather around the World and Church Furniture.  In DT the children learn how to make pop-up books and design wooden chairs for a mystery person.

Day trips include a visit to the Tutankhamen Exhibition in London, and Hampton Court Palace
